Civil Service Bonus Suspension: Is it the solution?

By Tinashe Chipembere Finance minister Patrick Chinamasa has revealed that government will not pay civil servants bonuses this year and the coming one. In addition, Chinamasa also revealed that the gorvenment will not be recruiting workers in the same period. This comes as the cash strapped government is trying to minimise recurrent expenditure that is gobbling up to 85% of its revenue The move is part of the government's measures to redress the buldging wage bill the country has to pay per month. In his address the Minister said that the state is paying a wage bill of 280 million dollars monthly. As such the indefinate cut of bonuses will allow the economy to grow as the funds will be channelled to other productive sectors of the economy.Chinamasa said his ministry is aiming at reducing the wage bill drastically to 40% and the temporary scrapping of civil service bonuses is just the beginning of a series of measures to attain the above. PASUWA THE RIGHT MAN FOR THE WARRIORS JOB

By Evans Dakwa The African Cup of Nations Qualifiers for 2017 are scheduled to start in June, less than two months away and our beloved Warriors still do not have a substantive gaffer. Still smarting from the shocking but inevitable expulsion from the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers, the football family in the country will no doubt like to use the 2017 qualifiers to redeem lost pride from years of successive failures on the pitch aided by a bungling leadership. Football fans and analyst alike as usullal have been debating as to the right man for the job, to redeem the country from the quagmire that its fooball finds itself in. The firm favourite to land the job is no doubt Kallisto Pasuwa, a man who is no doubt the man of the moment after guiding the Young Warriors to a memorable 2-1 aggregate win over the much fancied Young Indomitable lions to qualify for the All Africa Games scheduled to take part in Congo later in the year, for the first time since 1995 when the country partook in t...

UNEMPLOYMENT IN ZIM;GOVERNMENT BLAMED

By Evans Dakwa A recent youth employment conference organised by Youth Forum in Harare has blamed government for not doing enough to address the unemployment crisis. Wellington Zindove, the national coordinator for the Youth Forum, said government’s heavy spending was not helping the situation by procuring goods from outside the country, even when some of them are available locally. `Why can’t government use vehicles produced locally, no matter how inferior they are. This will help to save millions of jobs that are lost annually,” said Zindove in apparent reference to the government`s importation of vehicles for parliamentarians at a time when the country`s motor industry giant, Willovale motors is struggling with viability problems largely attributed to the shrinking of its market base. The government under the ZIMASSET economic blueprint is aiming at creating employment and the move to procure from outside seems a direct contradiction to what the economic ...

What many do not realise is inside she is a woman who is in turmoil.  She worries about what her family will eat, where her children will get clothes.
